In this tutorial I wish to teach you the basic creation of business cards. This will be made in Adobe Illustrator but can easily be adapted to Photoshop.

This is what we are creating:

Step 1

Create a new document with the following settings

Open up the logo of your business

Step 3

Copy and paste the logo onto your business card document

Step 4

Resize the logo and position it where you wish it to be

Step 5

Make a new layer and move it below your logo

Step 6

Select the Rectangle Tool (M) and draw a rectangle as follows

Step 7

Add a smaller white rectangle where the logo overlaps with the rectangle to create a transition

Step 8

Now just move things around and resize things until you are happy with the potisioning

In this I have enlarged the logo a bit and made the white bar thinner

Step 9

Time to add text, use the Text tool (T) and draw a box like below showing where you want the text to be. Make sure the Paragraph settings for the box is as below.

Step 10

Add all the information you want on there. I am adding the name, position, phone number, email and website.
Now you can start resizing and playing with the fonts

Step 11

I added some embellishments (in this case some more leaves) to fill that space quite nicely.

Step 12

Go Object -> Crop Area -> Make to make sure that anyparts overlapping the edge of your canvas will not be saved.

Step 13

Save it for web and you should get something like this


(I added a 1px black border,in Photoshop, just so the white half doesn't disspear)
